About us

Architecture South West is an initiative from The Architecture Centre in Bristol who are working with the Architecture Centre for Devon and Cornwall in Plymouth to encourage event organisers and to promote this period of celebration.

The Architecture Centres in Bristol and Plymouth produce a year round programme of activities centred on architecture and the built environment.

The Architecture Centre

The Architecture Centre is an independent organisation founded in 1996 by the Bristol Centre for the Advancement of Architecture (BCAA), a charitable trust. The Centre, on Bristol’s Harbourside, has gallery spaces, a small conference room (for hire) and shop. On a regional basis, The Architecture Centre runs a highly successful education programme working with schools and young people; and works with communities undergoing change through regeneration or development. We can also offer support to local authorities, client bodies and other agencies engaged in built environment projects.

The Architecture Centre’s principal aim is to encourage demand for excellent design by increasing people’s awareness and enjoyment of their built environment, and demonstrating the value of good design.

Architecture Centre Devon and Cornwall

With its administrative base in Plymouth, ACD&C has a programme of work to raise public awareness of design issues, and to support local authorities and practitioners in achieving high design aspiration and outcomes through design review, project work, events and exhibitions. We can provide guidance on design advocacy, information for commissioners of building projects, design champions, local authorities and members of the public looking for support and resource.
